Taylor Moton is one of the best young tackles in the NFL, and he will eventually be paid as such. Moton stands at six foot five and 291 pounds which is an ideal size for a successful tackle in the NFL. The franchise tag for Moton is expected to be somewhere between $13.5 and $14 million.
Taylor Moton is 26 years old and has started all 16 games the last three years; consistency like that in a young tackle is hard to find. Moton was pff’s 13th highest ranked tackle with an 81.2 grade. Despite being ranked 13th he still played at a very high level.
During this season, Moton played at a pro-bowl caliber level, allowing three sacks and having two penalties against him. Carolina is a young brewing team who also is making a run for young quarterback Deshaun Watson. If you want to lure in a young quarterback such as Watson, securing the offensive line is one way to go.
Motons biggest strength is his health, and with what Carolina has already shown with the releasing spree they went on, they are all in for Watson. This is a smart move for the Panthers; now, long-term remains the question if they plan on signing him.
