Running Back Aaron Jones has re-signed with the Green Bay Packers on a deal for 4 four years worth $48 million including a $13 million signing bonus. Jones has spent the last four seasons in Green Bay. He will be 27 years old in December.
Aaron Jones has had two straight stellar seasons for the Packers. In 2019, Jones ran for 1084 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 4.6 yards per attempt. He also was a threat in the receiving game for Green Bay as he caught 3 passing touchdowns and caught 474 yards. All impressive stats for a 5-9 running back.
In 2020, Aaron Jones would continue his great play. He rushed for 1104 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 5.5 yards per attempt. He would also continue his success in the receiving game with 47 receptions, 355 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Despite the success for Jones in the regular season, the postseason would tell a very different story. In the NFC Championship game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jones fumbled the ball in Green Bay territory to start the second half. This gave Tampa momentum that the Packers never regained.
Jones now returns to the team that drafted him in the 5th round back in 2017. It is going to be interesting to see what the Packers do with AJ Dillon now that Jones will be a cheesehead in 2021.
