The 2021 NFL Free Agency season is underway as the New York Giants finally signed a number one wide receiver as they inked former Detroit Lion Kenny Golladay to a 4 year, 72 million dollar deal with a max of $76 million with $40 million guaranteed. Dave Gettleman, the Giants General Manager, was retained by New York and given another chance to rebuild the organization. Gettleman’s contract ends after this current season. He has not made the best decisions for this team in recent years. As it stands now, Gettleman is looking better and better each day with the work he has been doing.
Adding Golladay to this team addressed the biggest need to this offense which is a true number one wide receiver. The Giants have found that in Golladay as he will slot into this team as the top receiver and will look to bounce back off of an injury that limited him to only 5 games last season. Giants fans have been wishing for a top wide receiver since the team traded former star and face of the franchise, Odell Beckham Jr., to the Cleveland Browns which caused an immediate uproar in the city of New York. Right now that trade is looking better and better as Beckham Jr. has not been the same receiver he was with the Giants.
Acquiring Golladay has been Gettleman’s best signing so far in his tenure. This move will certainly make the Giants the favorite in the NFC East. It will give them a shot to make the playoffs this season. The Giants’ receiving core is significantly better with Golladay’s addition. Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge have built a team that will contend in the present and the future.
