Wide Receiver and Return Specialist Cordarrelle Patterson signs with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year $3 million deal. Patterson turned thirty in March.

Cordarrelle Patterson is one of the elite return men in the NFL. He has a total of eight in his career in a league in which kick and punt return touchdowns are extremely rare. Patterson will join a Falcons team looking to rebound from an awful 4-12 2020 season.

The Falcons could also use Patterson in the passing game as well. Even though his career-high in receiving touchdowns is only four, his speed is unmatched. Lining him up next to Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley could leave Patterson into single coverage. This could allow him to finally break out in a huge way.

If Patterson could play at an elite level for Atlanta then he could be a great asset for Matt Ryan and the Atlanta offense.  He could even play running back if the Falcons need that position filled. That is how versatile Patterson truly is.

This signing could pay dividends for the Falcons. But even if it doesn’t turn out, it’s only a one-year 3 million deal. A low-risk high-reward move by Atlanta that could really help them next year.
