
It is that time of the year again. Memorial Day weekend is here at that only means one thing. The NASCAR Cup Series will run 600 miles in the longest race of the year in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is an endurance test that is a very challenging race. This is a weekend where fans and drivers can show respect to our heroes and pay an amazing tribute to this 600-mile race.
2020 Charlotte Races
One of the key changes, when NASCAR returned, was when they first came back. NASCAR ran two races on the Charlotte oval. In the Coca-Cola 600, Brad Keselowski won after Chase Elliott had made a highly questionable pit stop late in the race. He made up for it 4 days later when Chase Elliott won the second race on the Charlotte oval.
Practice Results
For the second week in a row, NASCAR had practice and qualifying. As usual, there was only one 55-minute session, Austin Dillon was the fastest in practice running a 29.845. Alex Bowman was second fastest in practice running a 29.861. The third fastest was his teammate Kyle Larson running a 29.866. The fourth fastest was Erik Jones running a 29.947. Rounding out the top 5 was Joey Logano running a 29.984.
Qualifying Results
Kyle Larson earned the pole for the Coca-Cola 600 and he will lead the field to the green flag on Sunday. He ran a 29.953. On the outside of row 1 will be Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ran a 29.960. Chase Elliott ran the third-fastest lap running a 29.969. William Byron ran the fourth-fastest lap running a 29.970. The fifth-fastest lap was Kevin Harvick running a 29.993.
Odds for Charlotte
Kyle Larson is currently the favorite to win at Charlotte at +350. Chase Elliott has the second-best odds at +500. The third-best odds to win the Coca-Cola 600 is Martin Truex Jr at +650. Kyle Busch has the fourth-best odds at +700. The fifth-best odds to win the Coca-Cola 600 goes to Denny Hamlin at +800.
Coca-Cola 600 Race information
The Coca-Cola 600 is a 400 lap and 600-mile race which is the longest race this season. This is the only race of the year with four scheduled stages, Each stage is 100 laps. The green flag is set to drop at 6:23 pm Eastern Time, 3:23 Pacific time. The race will be on FOX beginning at 6 pm Eastern Time at 3 pm Pacific time. This race will be heard on the Performance Racing Network. This race can also be heard on SiriusXM NASCAR channel 90.
What to Expect
It is one of NASCAR’S crown jewel races on the schedule. It is the biggest endurance test on the NASCAR schedule and it is a race everyone wants to win. This race will be a 600-mile tribute for our troops and a 600-mile endurance test for the best drivers in the world. It is the best day of racing action and the Coca-Cola 600 will be the main event of an action-packed Sunday.
